Amcard is used alone or together with other medicines to treat angina (chest pain) and high blood pressure (hypertension). High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If it continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. High blood pressure may also increase the risk of heart attacks. These problems may be less likely to occur if blood pressure is controlled.
Amcard is a calcium channel blocker. It affects the movement of calcium into the cells of the heart and blood vessels. As a result, Amcard relaxes blood vessels and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart while reducing its workload.

Warnings: Amcard-5 Tablet 14's should not be given to the people allergic to Amcard-5 Tablet 14's, have low blood pressure (less than 90 mm of Hg), have had heart attack, kidney disease, liver disease, pregnant women or planning to get pregnant and breastfeeding women without the prescription of a doctor. Besides this, it is contraindicated in patients with aortic stenosis (heart valve problem). Amcard-5 Tablet 14's can pass into breast milk, but its effect on the baby is not known. So, it is better to tell your doctor if you are taking Amcard-5 Tablet 14's and breastfeeding.
Medicine Interaction: Amcard-5 Tablet 14's may interact with high blood pressure lowering pills (benazepril, metoprolol, ramipril, hydrochlorothiazide etc), drugs used to control lipid levels in the blood (atorvastatin, simvastatin etc), medicines to treat erectile dysfunction (sildenafil), antibiotics (Clarinathromycin, erythromycin, rifampin), antifungal (itraconazole, ketoconazole), anti-HIV drugs (ritonavir), anti-epilepsy medicines (carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, primidone), immune-suppressing drugs (cyclosporine, tacrolimus) and painkillers (ibuprofen, aspirin).
