Warnings: Special care should be taken by the people taking Ceftum 500 Tablet 4's who have allergic reactions to penicillin or other beta-lactams antibiotics. As use with other antibiotics may lead to skin fungal infection known as Candida. Prolonged use of Ceftum 500 Tablet 4's may also cause an overgrowth of other pathogens (like enterococci and Clostridium difficile), which can be prevented by stopping Ceftum 500 Tablet 4's. The case of colitis (inflammatory bowel disease) has been reported with the use of Ceftum 500 Tablet 4's. Hence, it is important to consider the proper diagnosis of the patients who developed diarrhoea after taking Ceftum 500 Tablet 4's. If the symptom of diarrhoea persists for a longer duration, the patient may experience abdominal cramps. In this situation, the intake of Ceftum 500 Tablet 4's should be discontinued immediately. The Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction (caused due to toxins released by the death of bacteria within the body during antibiotic treatment) has been seen in the patients taking Ceftum 500 Tablet 4's for the treatment of Lyme disease. Your ability to perform tasks that require judgment, cognitive, or body movement may be affected and you may have dizziness. So patients taking Ceftum 500 Tablet 4's should be warned to be cautious when driving or operating machinery.

Anticoagulant
Your doctor's guidelines may need to be followed while taking this medicine along with Anticoagulant, which is used to prevent blood clotting. Use of Ceftum 500 and anticoagulants together may result in the increased international normalized ratio (INR), which is the measure of how long blood takes to clot.
Uricosuric Agent
Ceftum 500 Tablet interacts with Uricosuric Agent such as probenecid, which is used to increase the excretion of uric acid in urine. Use of probenecid with Ceftum 500 increases levels of Ceftum 500 in blood. The combined use of Ceftum 500 with probenecid is not recommended.
Antacids
There may be an interaction of Ceftum 500 with Antacids, which are used to treat acidity. Antacids may reduce the availability of Ceftum 500 and may also neutralize the effect of food that increases the absorption of Ceftum 500 when taken after meals. Ceftum 500 should be taken at least 1 hour before or after 2 hours of taking antacids. Avoid the use of histamine-2 (H2) antagonists and proton pump inhibitors while the treatment with Ceftum 500.

Side Effects: Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. - Loose stools (diarrhea). Yogurt or probiotics may help. You may get these products at health food stores or in some pharmacies. - For women, vaginal yeast infection. Report itching or discharge.
